The Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development (General Duties), Hon. Henry Musasizi has advised Parliament that investigations are underway following the alleged hacking of Bank of Uganda (BOU) programs resulting in lack of billions of shillings.
The media has over the previous few days reported that the Central Bank’s community firewall was hacked a fortnight in the past and over Shs62 billion stolen from the treasury account.
Musasizi stated that the Auditor General and the Criminal Investigations Department of police (CID) are investigating the matter.
He admitted to the House chaired by Speaker Anita Among on Thursday, 28 November 2024, that the Central Bank programs had been breached.
